About Shin Murata
Shin Murata is a young,
up and coming potter based in Kyoto, Japan. He has received
numerous publicities in recent years and is becoming increasingly
popular for his simple yet unique designs. Muratafs apprenticeship
started in 1994 under master potter Yoshitaka
Araki.
In 1998, he opened his first kiln site in Shugakuin in
Northern Kyoto and held his first solo exhibition in 2000.
He is best known for his original style of Yakishime (high-fired
unglazed stoneware), Seihakuji (blue and white porecelain)
and Kohiki (iron-rich clay covered with white glaze then
translucent glaze).
