Care Tips for Lacquerware

• Regular Care : Natural lacquer creates a remarkably durable waterproof finish that requires no special care and is easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Any type of mild soapy cleaner can remove stains from ordinary usage.

• Never use any type of abrasive cleaner.

• We do not recommend putting lacquer bowls and plates in a dishwasher or a microwave.

• Exceptional care: Sometimes temperature change may alter the shape of the wooden frame underneath the lacquer and produce a hairline crack in the surface. Good quality preparation in the workshop will minimize, but not eliminate the chance of these cracks that may appear. Exposure to direct sunlight can also produce the same effect. Some shapes are also more difficult to make and more vulnerable to cracking; other shapes will rarely or never crack. Please inquire any time you need repairs to lacquerware purchased at Sabi.
